The Fort's raising money for KIDS

The Fort Shopping Park has continued its support of local charity KIDS West Midlands by donating over £500 to the deserving organisation, thanks to The Fort’s textile recycling initiative. The Fort asked shoppers to donate their unwanted clothes, shoes, bedding and towels to the European Textile Recycling Company and vowed that for every tonne collected, the centre would donate £300 to KIDS.

KIDS is a national charity that helps disabled children and young people aged 0-24 years to get the most out of life. Working closely with parents and carers KIDS West Midlands helps to support disabled children and young people access leisure facilities and holiday schemes and encourages them to develop their self confidence and social skills through organised trips and social events.

Gayle Kirkwood, Fundraising Manager at KIDS West Midlands, was delighted with the donation, “This contribution from The Fort with the help of its shoppers will help to provide services such as specialist nurseries, youth groups, sports and leisure activities to disabled young people in the West Midlands. We are so thankful for the ongoing support we receive from The Fort and this money really will make a difference to a lot of lives."

Lots of generous shoppers placed their unwanted items in the two recycling bins provided at The Fort and not only did they reduce their carbon footprint, but they also added to the fund which was received by KIDS West Midlands.

Marjan Horne, Centre Manager at The Fort Shopping Park said, “We are thrilled to be able to maintain our support for KIDS West Midlands. It is such a worthy charity that touches so many lives in our community and The Fort is proud to be part of it. I would also like to thank our shoppers, without whom this donation could not be possible.
